Reunited and 4th International Charity Bazaar

18 November 2011(ops, wrong date in the video)
Haven't done this for years but on that day, we, the 1st batch of M'sian Med students in Poland came and had our dinner together. In fact, I haven't even meet one of them since the summer before going back to Malaysia even though we are actually in the same year. LOL. Felt so good, especially after our tiring hospital classes for the whole week.

20 November 2011
Visited the 4th International Charity Bazaar in Marriot Hotel. 5 zloty only for entry. There were lots of food and stuffs, anything special from each country participating.  Glad i am able to eat some of the Malaysian food(nasi lemak, roti jala, bubur jagung, karipap, donut, kek batik, kek lapis sarawak, apam balik). Miss them much!

And......Liverpool beat Chelsea at Stamford Birdge!! 1-2. Glen Johnson for the 87th min win!

Poor Torres. :P :P

MET

Saturday, 12 November 2011
Talk by Mdm. Noor Zaitun Yahaya, A receiver of The Qeen Elizabeth II anniversary prizes 2009. She flew from Leeds, England.

Besides her talk, we watched a video of her receiving the awards in front of th royal family and chosen people. She told us her story, how she has to undergo strict screening just to get into the Buckingham Palace, how she has to present her work in front of the royalty, including the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne etc. I quickly imagine myself in that situation. HAHA.  Well, it is awesome to receive something from The Queen of England. Even meeting the Queen herself in person is epic. Something not many people have the chance to do.

Monday 14 November 2011
Donated USD$5 to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I have a soft spot for cancer patients. My dad side grandma and, my grandpa whom i never see in person passed away due to cancer.  My mom side grandpa passed away this year June due to lots of illness; they suspected cancer even.  I remember nobody told me what was going on because i'm having finals and only when i am done my mom told me. It was sad because he always ask mom when am i coming home, wanting me to bring him out for breakfast everyday and drive him around the town.  Hey, money isn't everything in life. $5 isn't too much to ask for. I rather spend it on the unfortunate God's children.

And wow, this is touching.

RIP Benedict

You are the most loyal dog, staying with us since you were small. I miss playing with you. Your naughtiness, cuteness, and playfulness. You make us all smile everytime we reach home.  Looking forward to see you all the time.  I remember how you love to get into the house, just for one thing, eating cookies. Only then u would get out. I remember how you went upstairs and licked my foot to wake me up.  I remember how skillful you were in catching those cicadas in the dark and protecting the house from outsiders.  It is sad that you have to leave.  Yeah, i weep at the moment of typing this. And yeah, I know you are just a pet but i love you and you have a special place in me.

All that left now, are just...... memories.....

Dating a Medical Student

Dating a med student? Check out these tips for a "healthy" relationship.

1. Don't expect to see them. Ever.

2. Accept the fact they will have many affairs. With their books.

3. Learn to hide your “ew, gross” reactions when they tell you all the stuff you never wanted to know about your bodily functions.

4. Support them when they come home after each test, upset because they failed—and gently remind them after they get their well above passing grade how unnecessary the “I’m going to fail out of medical school and never become an MD” dramatics are.

5. Each week they will have a new illness. Some will be extremely rare, others will be more mundane. Doesn’t matter. They will be certain they have it (no second opinions necessary.) Med school can, and will, turn even the sanest into a hypochondriac. Date them for long enough, and you’ll become one too.

6. There will be weeks you'll forget you even have a boyfriend—friends will ask how he is and you'll say, “What? Who? Oh....right. He's well...I think.”

7. They'll make you hyper-aware that germs are everywhere and on everything. Even though you used to walk into your home with your shoes on, and sit on your bed in the same clothes you just wore while riding the subway, or sat on a public bench in, you'll become far too disgusted to ever do it again. Believe me, it's going to get bad...you'll watch yourself transform into the anal retentive person you swore you'd never become. And when you witness others perform these same acts that, before you began dating your med student, you spent your entire life doing too, you'll wince and wonder, “Ew! How can they do that? Don't they know how many germs and bacteria they're spreading??!”

8. Romantic date = Chinese take-out in front of the TV on their 10 minute study break.

9. A vacation together consists of a trip down the street to Walgreens for new highlighters and printer paper.

10. Their study habits will make you feel like a complete slacker. For them, hitting the books 8-to-10 hours a day is not uncommon, nor difficult. You'll wonder how you ever managed to pass school on your meager one hour of studying per night.

11. They're expected to know everything. Everything! The name of the 8 billion-lettered, German sounding cell that lives in the depths of your inner ear, the technical term for the “no one's ever heard of this disease” disease that exists only on one foot of the Southern tip of the African continent. But ask them if your knee is swollen, or what you should do to tame your mucous-filled cough, or why the heck your head feels like someone's been drilling through it for oil for two weeks straight, and they won't have a clue.

12. “My brain's filled with so much information, I can't be expected to remember THAT!" will be the standard excuse for forgetting anniversaries, birthdays, and, if you get this far, probably the birth of your first-born.

13. You'll need friends with unending patience who pretend never to get sick of listening to your endless venting and complaints. Or, you'll need to pay a therapist who will pretend never to get sick of listening to your endless venting and complaints.

But take this all with a grain of salt. It's not like I'm speaking from experience or anything...

May-June 2011

I have to say 4th year has been the hardest year of med studies.
I have to study like 12-15 hours per day for final exams especially for pharmacology, not caring about eating breakfast.
Waking up early in the morning for clinics.
No life.
But rewards will come. So, work hard! :)

Easter Weekend

Good Friday started with a normal class in the morning. I had paediatrics on that day.  It was the end of week 2 in the Endocrinology department.  The only difference between that day and other days of those weeks - im heading to the class, fasting. In the afternoon, i went to the Carrefour as usual to buy some groceries. It was an unusal day because there were alot more people than other days because ALL shops will be closed till Monday due to Easter.
Spring

On Saturday, i played futsal and basketball in conjunction with POSFES. It was the last day of the event.  We got 1st place in futsal and 2nd place in basketball (for men).  Well, at the end of the day, my team emerged victorious and as overall champions! It was definitely a tiring day and i left the sport centre with a sleepy head.  I slept pretty early that night. At 7pm. But i woke up at like 10pm before continuing my sleep at around 11.50pm.

back from church

Finally, the Easter Sunday. I went to the church.  It started at 11.30am. I met some of my Norweigian friends there.  It was surprising because i thought they would all go back home for the one week break, but apparently not. When asked why? They said Gotta read the books and study for Pharma! :O

After the mass, i went to McDonald at the Warsaw Central for lunch.  The only eating place/shops opened that day i guess.  It was an unusual day because i saw alot of asians and foreigners on that day.  From the church to the passing cars to those standing at the tram stations and also in the McDonald.  When ordering, the girl at the counter kept on smiling that it feels kind of awkward.  Well, smile brightens up the day and that was good! lol.  I sat at a table and infront of me were a group of Spainiard backpackers probably wanting to travel by train.  It made me feel like travelling but i am so busy that it is not even possible. Oh well, there is always a next time. wut? :P

Sunday 17 April 2011

Badminton

Yesterday, i played badminton for the 1st time ever in two years! LOL! Seriously, the feeling was kinda odd and i made lots of simple mistakes and errors. What to do? Anyway, this month we are having this POSFES which stands for Poland Sport Festival organized by the msian students over here.  There are several sports played, from bowling, futsal, basketball to even UNO, chess, congkak and FIFA2011 console game!..This week however is badminton week.  There are 4 teams competing.

Despite my lack of match after two years, i managed to win some matches for my team. Not bad at all, considering i got no practice or whatsoever and jump straight into the match. Maybe only just some warmup and that's about it. :-P

We played at Kahuna, Wilanow, Warsaw. It was pretty far away from the city. Consuming like 1 hour to get there. It was a nice place and pretty new-looking.  Here is a short video clip of that day :

Stitching Extra Class

Today we had a stitching extra class at 6pm in Banacha Hospital.  It started with a lecture by 3 new student doctors from Wroclaw, another city in Poland. We did not expect that. So it was abit surprising. Probably our Surgeon is busy and assigned the task to the three of them
Later on, we proceed to the fun part! stitcing on bananas and pigs' legs. :-O

Interesting stuff about the year 2011 !!

This year we will experience 4 unusual dates: 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11. Now figure this...Take the last 2 digits of the year you were born plus the age you will be this year and it will be equal to 111.

Mind blown away..
